How do you choose a logistics school
Some schools have created programs for warehouse workers in response to the increasing demand for education that focuses specifically on logistics. Kathleen Hedland is the director of education and research at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. She states that companies want their workers to be aware of how they influence customers and how their actions in one department may impact other areas of work.
The options for degrees vary however, the majority of them include fundamental courses that teach basic concepts, such as operations and supply chain management procurement, transportation, distribution networks storage and inventory management, and business fundamentals. Some universities offer specializations in e-commerce logistics for retail and logistics analysis, transportation and global logistics management.
Graduates are now ready to assume roles such as supply chain managers and logisticians. They also have the option of working in roles like purchasing agents industrial production managers and distribution managers. They can also pursue certifications such as the Certified Supply Chain Manager (CSCM) or the Certified Public Contract Manager (CPCM) to improve their career prospects.
Consider whether the university is accredited. This is usually done by a company like the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. These categoryuncategorized organizations have accreditation for 8,200 institutions and 44,000 programs. Find a school that has an acceptable student-to-teacher ratio, since this will ensure you get a quality education.
Some colleges offer online or hybrid programs, which provide classroom instruction in conjunction with online learning opportunities. This is a popular option for employees who have flexible schedules and are in a position to not attend traditional classes. Some online-only programs offer certificates or associate degrees and others offer bachelor’s or master’s degrees.
